Steyn, de Kock rested for first two ODIs against Pakistan

South Africa have rested quick bowler Dale Steyn and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock from the initial two one-day internationals against Pakistan beginning January 19 at Port Elizabeth.

The Proteas have called up Duanne Olivier and Aiden Markram in their place. Olivier, who is yet to make his white-ball make a big appearance, got 23 wickets against Pakistan from the ongoing three Tests, which included three five-wicket pull and one 10-wicket coordinate pull. Heinrich Klaasen is set to take the keeping gloves in de Kock's nonattendance.

Amir returns as Pakistan ODI squad reported for South Africa arrangement

On day two of the third Test in Johannesburg, Steyn had damage startle and before long left the field gripping his shoulder. Olivier demanded Steyn was "consummately fine" in his finish of-day question and answer session, and Steyn proceeded to bowl 20 overs — the most by any of the South Africa quick bowlers — in Pakistan's second innings.

Batsman Rassie van der Dussen is the other new top in South Africa's 14-man squad for the initial two ODIs.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Amir and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan are making a rebound as a major aspect of Pakistan's 16-part squad for the ODIs.
